POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education , the psychologist will perform as follows: Conducts assessments for referred students; serves as case-carrier and member of educational teams needed for planning individual programs for special education students; participates in IEP meetings; organizes and/or conducts in service programs as appropriate for staff and parents; evaluates and interprets pertinent student information to make recommendations for appropriate educational programs and placements for students; counsels students as appropriate, i.e., concerning test findings, vocational goals, behavior and academic concerns; counsels parents, individually and in groups; assists parents and students in referrals to community agencies; consults with professionals from agencies and in private practice regarding specific students; consults with staff members concerning individual students, appropriateness of referrals, classroom management and guidance techniques; prepares professional reports; participates in staff, community, and parent meetings; performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid California credential authorizing the service as a School Psychologist. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
