Position Summary:
Culver-Stockton College (C-SC) in Canton, Missouri, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Tri-State Development. This is a full-time role responsible for managing the daily operations of Tri-State Development at Culver-Stockton College.

The Director will oversee the organization's administration, programs, and outreach initiatives. Key responsibilities include fundraising, marketing, community event planning, and internship development. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and collaborates closely with cross-functional leaders and both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Tri-State Development in a manner that supports and advances its mission, as well as the mission of Culver-Stockton College.

  • Support all institutional programs related to Tri-State Development, including the student business incubator and any additional on-campus initiatives.

  • Oversee the Tri-State Development internship program, providing interns with experiential learning opportunities and networking connections with regional leaders and organizations.

  • Create a compelling and insightful monthly newsletter on topics relevant to and impacting regional stakeholders.

  • Engage with community members to align the objectives, research, and projects of Tri-State Development with current and emerging regional issues through committees, task forces, advisory board, or community roundtables.

  • Identify projects and programs within the scope of Tri-State Development that qualify for external funding, develop strong cases for support, and collaborate with College administration to submit high-quality funding proposals.

  • Secure sponsorships for the annual Tri-State Development Summit and ensure all sponsorship commitments and metrics are met.

  • Lead and oversee the planning and execution of the annual Tri-State Development Summit in collaboration with a host community planning group, including developing conference materials, securing speakers and presenters, coordinating accommodations, and ensuring a seamless registration process for attendees.

  • Effectively manage the annual operating budget of Tri-State Development.


  • Enhance the visibility and reputation of Tri-State Development and Culver-Stockton College by actively engaging with the community and collaborating with educational, professional, civic, and private organizations, as well as economic development councils and corporate partners.

  • Serve as a primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it to internal and external stakeholders, the media, and the public.

  • Increase awareness of Tri-State Development, Culver-Stockton College, and the tri-state region.

  • Assess, track, and measure the outcomes and impact of Tri-State Development initiatives, projects, and programs.

  • Emphasize the organization’s outcomes as a model for regional and national replication.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree preferred

  • Experience in higher education and/or economic development or project management

  • Ability to learn and become proficient in utilizing various software data tools such as IMPLAN and ESRI.
