What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Associate – Grants and Fundraising position at CUMAC Echo?
The Development Associate – Grants and Fundraising will support the Chief Development Officer to execute CUMAC’s development strategy. This will involve supporting the team’s efforts to meet fundraising goals via grant writing and reporting, supporting event/campaign development and execution, as well as donor cultivation and engagement. This position will be part of a three-person team, including the Chief Development Officer, and the Development Associate – Communications and Volunteerism. Like all staff, the Development Associate – Grants and Fundraising is responsible for learning CUMAC’s trauma-informed community building work, embodying best practices, and working alongside staff and partners to educate themselves about ACEs and trauma as the root of hunger.
Grant writing, data keeping, & reporting
- Research and identify the availability of grants that meet CUMAC’s funding needs and support the complete grant application process (research, writing, submission)
- Manage all administrative functions of CUMAC’s grant portfolio and maintain an updated and accurate grant calendar
- Complete grant-specific reports in a timely manner
- General interest in cultivating and maintaining data-keeping operations that will help leverage key information for grant applications and awareness/fundraising campaigns
- Continually communicate and build relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and faith-based partners that will lead to grant funding opportunities
- Maintain roster of usernames/passwords related to all grant portals used to submit applications and/or reports
Fundraising
- In coordination with team, support CUMAC’s donor appeals in the spring and at end of year
- In coordination with team, assist as needed on all fundraising events and awareness/fundraising campaigns
- Assist the members of the development team to continually communicate with volunteers, donors and other stakeholders to tell the CUMAC story with an eye toward growing CUMAC’s influence, work, and funds raised
Donor cultivation & retention
- Partner with the members of the development team to engage high level corporate and community partners
- Assist in the execution of all donor cultivation events
- Generate and send out all donor acknowledgement communications
- Learning various software/database to maintain information on donors and funds raised
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, or relevant Social Science
- A minimum of 2 years relevant experience writing AND supporting completion of grants, proposals, or other complex written deliverables
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated flexibility, self-motivation, attention to detail and organization, as well as proven record of successfully managing multiple tasks and successfully meeting strict deadlines
- A creative mindset and a willingness to think outside the box
- Ability and desire to cultivate and create relationships that will lead to funding opportunities or donations
- A team player who exhibits an attitude of collaboration and enjoys working within a team dynamic
- This position will not be eligible for remote work unless specially granted by the Chief Development Officer on a case by case basis
Relevant to all CUMAC staff
In conjunction with all CUMAC staff, become knowledgeable in ACEs, trauma-informed language and work, and able to relay these concepts and our work outward to current and potential donors, sponsors, grant makers, stakeholders, etc. both in writing and verbally
Support and embody trauma-informed best practices, as practiced at/by CUMAC
