What are the responsibilities and job description for the INTENSIVE FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST position at Cumberland County Guidance Center?
Dynamic Opportunity~ As a full-time employee, working 40 hours per week, a Family Support Specialist provides community based supportive counseling, guidance, education and advocacy for IFSS Intensive Family Support Services families.
The Guidance Center~ is a primary mental health support agency, providing compassionate, professional care for individuals and families with mental health needs in the greater Cumberland County, NJ area. For more than 50 years, our non-profit organization of professionals, doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff, has assisted the community in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of mental illness.
What does this position look like~ The Family Support Specialist facilitates support groups and respite activities for families served. Develops and implements training and educational programs for IFSS participants. Assists in completing assessments. Engages in service planning and completes required documentation.
Provides assertive community outreach/education to engage diverse residents of Cumberland County in IFSS services. Promotes usage of community recreational and social activities. Contributes required data for the Quality Improvement Plan, including but not limited to outcome measures, utilization of resources, engagement and client satisfaction. Provides supervision to employees assigned to IFSS program.
What you need to apply~
- Master's Degree in a mental health related discipline from an accredited institution required.
- Three years' experience providing services to individuals with serious mental illness.
- Knowledge of serious mental illness.
- Knowledge of community resources and agencies.
- Experience and comfort in providing in home and other off-site services.
- Experience in group facilitation.
- Skilled in written and oral communication.
- Valid automobile driver's license with MVR which meets agency standards.
- Willingness to work a forty (40) hour flexible schedule per week, including some evenings.
