To assist the Human Services Director by providing administration, supervisory, planning, and managerial support and assistance within the department; and to act on behalf of the Human Services Director in his/her absence.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for the overall management of the Agency in the absence of the Human Services Director.
- Serves as a member of the Agency management team and participates in long- and short-term planning.
- Plans and conducts weekly administrative meeting in conjunction with Human Services Director and Human Services Managers.
- Plans, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned Human Service Managers.
- Assists with reviews of performance evaluations; assists in interviews and selection on employee hiring and/or other personnel actions.
- Reviews, analyzes and develops necessary agency operational policies and procedures.
- Manages quality control of social services through supervision, case reviews, outcome measures, Family Service Plan reviews, Permanency Reviews and response to community feedback.
- Manages program planning and development for staff, providers, planning boards and other committees as assigned.
- Assists Human Services Director and Fiscal Operations Officer in planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive agency annual plan and Needs Based Budget.
- Monitors direct and contracted services to ensure program quality, efficiency and conformance with established federal, state and local regulations and policies.
- Serves as internship liaison with colleges and universities.
- Represents the agency Human Services Director at meetings within the county, with the public, the judiciary, and the state and local officials concerning the functions and program of the county children and youth agency.
- Manages the preparation of a variety of program reports and correspondence.
- Required to obtain and maintain certifications as Direct Service Worker and Supervisor as delineated by statute.
- Attends meetings, training and in-services as required.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
- Three years of professional experience in public or private social work, including two years in a supervisory capacity in a children and youth social services program agency and a bachelor’s degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
