Job Summary
To ensure the safety and security of buildings and ground for County employees and the general public.
Essential Job Functions
- Possess a detailed working knowledge of the access control and video surveillance software and hardware as well as the x-ray and magnetometer equipment. Make programming changes and review and generate logs and video as needed.
- Perform security screening procedures of the public and staff at ingress and egress points in the secure County buildings when open to the public as prescribed by County Ordinance 93-7. Assist Deputies at security stations as needed. Performs roving building patrols of prescribed buildings to ensure security after public hours.
- Create detailed logs of all after hour’s events. Control afterhours ingress and egress security screening and monitor employee afterhours access in various buildings to maintain safety and security. Report criminal/mischievous/behavior and mechanical issues appropriately.
- Directly interacts with public and all county agencies/departments and answers questions from both. Provides direction both during the course of normal business and during emergencies.
- Attends meetings, seminars and training as directed.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements to Perform the Work:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year of security experience preferred
- Certifications: AED Certification/Adult, Child & Infant CPR/First Aid
- Passive Restraint Training
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to speak and understand the English language and to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to client information and records.
- Must possess personal integrity and honesty.
- Must possess the ability to work effectively with associates.
- Must possess a high degree of alertness and ability to detect problems or potential problems.
- Must possess knowledge and ability to security equipment.
- Must possess ability to maintain order and security effectively.
- Must possess ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency.
- Must possess ability to enforce rules and regulations with firmness.
- Must possess some knowledge and understanding of individual and group behavior and attitude of individuals under restraint.
- Must possess ability to follow oral and written instructions.
