Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Financial Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to the organization.
Responsibilities:
-Consults and advises the COO and Director of Schools on all finance matters.
-Assists a variety of external agency personnel for providing information, general support and risk assessment of district operations.
-Collaborates with internal and external personnel.
-Compiles data from a wide variety of sources to implement and maintain services and programs.
-Conducts internal audits.
-Communicates with district personnel to advise new policies and make recommendations to update current policy.
-Coordinates operations, the maintenance of services and the implementation of new programs and/or processes for achieving organizational objectives and ensuring compliance with legal, financial and district requirements within established timeframes.
-Facilitates and participates in meetings, workshops, seminars, etc.
-Maintains a variety of manual and electronic fiscal information, files and records.
-Monitors budget allocations, fund balances, and related financial activity.
-Prepare and presents annual budget, financial statements, reports for the Auditors, Board, Director of Schools, County Commission and department administrators.
-Provide assistance and direction for all school bookkeepers.
-Review audits of internal school funds.
-Researches financial topics and related legal issues.
-Assists in design of short and long term operational plans for the district.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably as a Financial Controller or similar role
- Able to perform multiple, highly complex technical tasks.
- Familiarity with various accounting software systems for efficient financial management.
_Able to prepare and maintain accurate records.
-Specific knowledge of pertinent laws, codes, policies and/or county, state and federal regulations.
-Knowledge of principles of public and fund accounting and budgeting.
-Must be able to work independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $75,000.00 per year
