Reports to: Restorative Sanctions Coordinator

Supervises: None


For this position, we are looking for
MALE applicants only, as this position will be administering drug screenings to MALE offenders.


Job Summary:

To support the Courts and other County departments by assisting the Restorative Sanctions Coordinator in the day-to-day operations of the Drug Testing Program and Driving Under Suspension House Arrest/Electronic Monitoring, including following protocols, random drug testing schedules, and administering drug tests on MALE offenders, and analysis of test results. Provides administrative support to the department and specialty courts.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Receives drug testing program referrals and enters client information in case management system and spreadsheets.
  • Prepares daily testing forms and stocks drug testing supplies.
  • Conducts observed urine specimen collections from male clients for drug screens in accordance with protocols.
  • Analyzes drug screens, records results, and if necessary, prepares specimen for shipment to laboratory for confirmation.
  • Provides daily notification to referral agencies of drug testing results.
  • Install and remove equipment for offenders sentenced under the Driving Under Suspension House Arrest/Electronic Monitoring Program and SCRAM monitoring.
  • Monitor compliance of offenders under the DUS and SCRAM Programs and inform the Court of violations of the terms of sentence.
  • Testify in Court as necessary, relaying the facts of the violation(s) as recorded by the electronic and alcohol monitoring equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of SCRAM and electronic monitoring equipment for sentencing and ensure the integrity and safety of stored equipment.
  • Assists the Restorative Sanctions Coordinator as needed analyzing and providing result reports to the Courts and County departments.
  • Enters data into databases and spreadsheets designed for collecting and maintaining data.
  • Maintains file systems for program records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements to Perform the Work:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree is a plus, but not required.


Work Experience:

  • Up to one year experience in criminal justice or related field


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to speak and understand the English language and to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Must possess initiative, creativity and problem-solving skills.

  • Must possess ability to function independently, have flexibility and personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with clients, co-workers, and others.

  • Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client information and records.

  • Must possess the technical knowledge of operating personal computers and other office equipment.


Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Must possess ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures and follow instructions.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of standing, walking and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
  • Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers/hands; to simple movements of feet/legs/torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
  • Sedentary work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of ten pounds.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to details and concentrate on work


Work Environment:

  • Works indoors with adequate office space, lighting, temperatures and ventilation.
  • Normal exposure to noise and stress, but subject to frequent disruptions.
  • Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.
  • Potential exposure to urine and saliva samples during collection and chain of custody.
  • Close proximity to offenders who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
