Position(s) located in Adult Services, Economic Services and/or Children's Services Section(s).

Examples of Duties:
As a member of the Administrative Support Unit, position(s) will provide varying degrees of clerical and administrative support to each of the operational units in their section(s). A portion of the time will be spent supporting the section(s) reception desk operations.
The primary duty of position(s) is to provide clerical support for the operational units in the Adult Services, Economic Services and/or Children Services section. Position(s) responsibilities include but are not limited to
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least one year of office assistant/secretarial experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. General knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation and specialized vocabulary; Ability to proofread. General knowledge of office accounting and record keeping procedures, mathematics and their application in the work environment. Ability to learn and apply a variety of guidelines. Ability to use a variety of office equipment. Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact. Ability to screen communications based on predetermined guidelines to independently respond or route inquiries. Ability to record and compile information based on general guidelines. Ability to gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process or procedures. Ability to balance and reconcile figures. May require ability to coordinate work of other support staff, student workers or volunteers. Ability to learn to use specialized office equipment. The primary duty of position(s) is to provide clerical support for the operational units in the Adult Services, Economic Services and/or Children Services section. Position(s) responsibilities include but are not limited to
- customer-tracking
- scanning documents in the system
- maintaining workroom areas
- screening and assigning customers to the appropriate program
- providing customers within the agency guidance on getting to the proper section
- typing correspondence, dictation, and/or petitions
- distributing mail
- reviewing timesheets
- ordering and distributing supplies
- copying and filing documentation
- maintaining and performing minor repairs on copiers
- processing finance requisition forms
- logging information
- maintaining excel spreadsheet
- and interacting effectively with the public
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The selected applicant will be subject to the following conditions prior to appointment. Failure to complete or fulfill these conditions may result in dismissal.
The employee in this position will be operating motor vehicles for Cumberland County and shall have a valid North Carolina Driver's License.

Law enforcement background check is required.
This position will be required to assist in emergency and/or disaster situations.
The Cumberland County Department of Social Services has a dress code policy that must be adhered to. This policy includes specific guidelines related tattoos and body piercing.
