The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership in implementing WIC Program services. The individual in this position acts as a lead resource person for both WIC and agency staff in regards to WIC Program administrative concerns. This position also provides assistance to the Site Supervisor with developing, documenting and implementing new and/or revised policies and procedures and with division development strategies. In addition this employee is responsible for reviewing, completing and maintaining monthly state generated program reports.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the supervision, evaluation, staff development and discipline of three staff members.Must explain program purpose, rules, income guidelines and need for medical eligibility to participants.Will have periodic contact with area medical providers, State WIC staff, staff member at other WIC Programs, and other health and community agencies and the general public.May be assigned to the appointment line to answer calls received from participants for general information, and to schedule or reschedule appointments.Provide assistance with Voter Registration Application.Employee must provide their own transportation as this position works in the Spring Lake office Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on the installation Tuesday and Thursday.Employee is subject to be called upon anytime to help the agency respond to a public health emergency which may include, but is not limited to, outbreak investigations, staffing mass dispensing or immunization clinics, providing disaster relief, or other incidents (man-made or natural and intentional or non-intentional) as they arise, or any public health response requested by the Health Director.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Considerable knowledge of the program manuals, policies and procedures related to the daily operation of the WIC Program. Considerable knowledge of interrelationships between health and social service programs, and of appropriate community resources for referral of clients. Knowledge of human behavior and techniques for effecting behavior change and the ability to interview and screen income appropriately. Ability to understand an individual’s socio-economic status and lifestyles with respect for individual differences. Ability to monitor and maintain quality standards of administrative practices. Ability to organize and manage time and resources. Ability to make accurate observations and report changes accurately, to remain calm and function appropriately and efficiently in emergency and stressful situations, to understand, interpret and relate oral and written instructions, and to be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to review information in the Crossroad system and gather information to compile reports. Ability to perform data entry and retrieval. Must have substantial supervisory and leadership skill and knowledge. Capable of performing as a division supervisor and management team member.Must have or obtain and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
