Monitors and records information on vehicles entering the landfill for disposal of debris.
Track vehicles by identifying features to ensure proper disposal.
Prepares records pertaining to scale operations including records of solid waste tonnage collected, charges, etc.
Prepares revenue reports and other information to account for cash and credit receipts.
Works with the general public regarding landfill policies, weight scale procedures charges, and regulations governing solid waste disposal and other issues pertaining to solid waste.
Maintain and file daily tickets and ensure supplies are available for shift.
Answer citizen questions regarding all aspects of Solid Waste disposal.
Ensure daily deposits are balanced and organized based on departmental policy.
Maintain the scalehouse to ensure a clean and safe environment.
Knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of Cumberland County as pertains to the performance of the essential duties of the position.
Knowledge of principles and practices of solid waste disposal; laws, ordinances, standards
Knowledge of regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
Knowledge of the organization of the department, and of related department and agencies
Knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertains to work responsibilities
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, take initiative and be a self-starter
Ability to problem solve if daily deposits are off based on reports and apply corrective measures
Ability to type accurately at 35 words per minute and accurately operate a 10-key calculator to keep running totals
Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in contact with the general public.
Ability to understand the occupational hazards and safety precautions required to perform the essential functions of the work
Ability to maintain cooperative and effective relationships with intra- and interdepartmental personnel, as well as any external entities with whom position interacts
