The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) is an individual who is in stable recovery and able to use their personal, lived experiences in recovery to guide, support, and advocate for recipients during their own recovery process. The Peer Support Specialist supports the recovery needs of recipients while being part of a multi-functioning team that works interdependently with other departments in the organization. The Peer Support Specialist serves as a connection between recipients and recovery support available to them by engaging them in all points of recovery to teach and model the skills necessary to achieve long term recovery.

Essential Functions:

The plan will serve as a collaborative tool for implementation of services to overcome psychosocial needs.

· Ensure the recipient is involved in developing recovery goals and a plan to develop the skills, strengths, support, and resources to be successful in their recovery journey.

· Provide reminders pertaining to SUD treatment (ie. Pill counts, drug screenings, appointments, etc.) and assist with identifying and overcoming barriers that could cause conflicts in the recipient’s recovery plan. PSS must promote personal accountability of the patient while working closely with all care team members.
