POSITION SUMMARY
The Resident Peer Care Manager coordinates the overall care for a resident, from admission to commencement. Working with the resident, the family as appropriate, the referral source, the resident peer counselors, and the entire Still Waters team, s/he relies on training and experience to plan and accomplish program goals. This position serves the multidisciplinary function of referral relations, peer family counseling, continuing care planning, including post-commencement placement, as well as that of resident peer counselor.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include some or all of the following:
- Coordinates the resident’s entry into the Still Waters program, including orientation to the environment, program, and resident community.
- Meets with the resident to obtain a complete life history, working in conjunction with the resident, the family, referral source, and Still Waters team, to create an individual program plan and goals.
- Facilitates individual peer support counseling and family peer support counseling as appropriate.
- Facilitates peer support groups with assigned residents as directed.
- Collaborates with the SW staff, residents, and family as appropriate, on a variety of program activities, including the practicing of daily life skills and leisure skills within a 12 Step environment, in order to achieve program and individual residential goals.
- Utilizing CPI, intervenes in crises to deescalate situations and resolve crises, using events as entries into the recovery process for residents.
- Coordinates with River Road campus admissions, patient registration, financial advisors, and accounts receivable personnel as needed to coordinate those aspects of the resident’s stay.
- Makes recommendations for resident extensions of stay and secures those with resident and family approval, working closely with financial advisors.
- Coordinates the resident’s care with the various off-site providers for medical, psychiatric, or other social needs as appropriate.
- Acts as a liaison between the Still Waters’ team, the marketing team, and referral sources, keeping them abreast of resident progress and continuing care needs through verbal and written communication, as well as meetings as needed.
- Collaborates with the resident, family as appropriate, resident peer counselors and entire program team in developing the continuing care plan, including securing any necessary post-commencement appointments and placements.
- Documents pertinent information into the resident record.
- Participates in team meetings and milieu review and management as needed.
- Performs CPR and First Aid as needed.
- Represents the Still Waters program and Cumberland Heights at a variety of community and professional meetings, including presentations and marketing/business development activities as assigned.
- Participates in quality improvement activities as directed.
- Ensures that a welcoming, safe and healing environment is maintained for each resident and family throughout the continuum of care.
- Recommends ways to improve the quality and delivery of services.
- Maintains confidentiality of company and resident information.

- High school diploma or GED required with Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Current Tennessee drivers' license in good standing required
- Minimum of two (2) years of recovery experience including current and active application of 12 steps principles.
- Excellent interviewing, observational, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively speak, read and write in English; second language, particularly Spanish a plus
- Proficient with basic computer skills, Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to learn clinical software programs and use office equipment (printer, copier, fax, etc.)
- Organizational skills for managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and assignments
- Ability to teach, model and use evidence -based counseling practices in support of Twelve Step philosophy
- Ability to skillfully adapt to changing circumstances and patient needs.
- Ability to be open and culturally humble to a wide variety of patients’ experiences that may be outside the counselor’s own, including the full span of human development.
- Knowledge of signs/symptoms of intoxication/withdrawal of alcohol and common drugs of abuse and general options for treatment
- Ability to apply information regarding cultural/age/population specific characteristics to the patients in the assigned area;
- Ability to deescalate a person in crisis in a calm and supportive manner and to teach same
- Minimum of two years recovery required
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Position is in an office, group room, or larger community settings that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions.
- Position requires frequent contact with people in crisis, including those who are emotionally volatile and may require additional safety precautions.
- May perform CPR/First Aid as needed (being certified or eligible is required)
- Position is subject to long hours and may be subject to rotating on-call responsibilities, including weekends as well as staying overnight for inclement weather as part of critical staffing, and some travel.
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs and/or push pull up to 40lbs; move around campus on uneven and rural terrain.
