We are currently looking for a Director of Admissions!
The Admissions Director is accountable for the oversight and direction of the hospital’s Admissions Department. Provides direction to a staff of specialists in the provision of patient access to care and behavioral health assessment services, including call management, clinical evaluations for level of care, crisis intervention, admissions and referrals. Interfaces closely with the hospital’s medical staff, nursing staff, fellow department heads, and administration, as well as external referring agencies and payers. Participates with the senior leadership team in the development and management of processes related to the hospital’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Directs Admissions Services in the screening, clinical overview, and assessment of potential patients/residents.
2. Collaborates with referral sources and internal departmental resources to assure their satisfaction and continued associations.
3. Maintains and allocates a well-qualified core of staff resources that meets the demands of the patient population and census and adjust it accordingly.
4. Ensure that a system is developed to provide continuity of care and communication with family and appropriate referral sources, and ensure the system is evaluated and reviewed regularly.
5. Establish, manage and monitor safety standards, processes, communications, training and systems for employees.
Qualifications: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of Admissions Department techniques and accepted procedures.
Knowledge of Admissions Department techniques and accepted procedures.
Knowledge of patient assessment, family motivating treatment planning techniques. Knowledge of external review organizations (i.e. managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, state gate keep for Medicaid).
Knowledge of patients’ rights, advanced directives, adult and child abuse laws, and emergency detention.
Knowledge of payer resources and financial planning. Excellent leadership and negotiation skills. Excellent customer relations skills. Skill in interacting with multiple individuals with diversified roles and perspectives. Effective oral and written communication skills.
Education: LCSW, Ph.D., ie Registered Nurse-(Bachelors or Master’s) prepared from an accredited college or university. Previous experience in Mental Health related field preferred. Ph.D. or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university of social work, psychology, mental health or related field.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable. Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. A minimum of three (3) years of managing a professional/clinical team and responsible for staffing, budget, and process improvements.
