Responsibilities:
Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses. Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children’s hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues. Cumberland includes a 62-bed Hospital Program, a 16-bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30-bed Residential Treatment Program. Our goal is to stabilize medical problems and help children develop positive behavioral coping strategies using an interdisciplinary approach.
Temp RN Program Details:
- Program Eligibility: Cannot have worked at Cumberland Hospital in previous 6 months
- Pay Rate: $70.00 per Hour
- Benefits: Ineligible
- PTO: Ineligible
- Orientation: Must be able to attend 2-week orientation, Monday thru Friday, approximately 8:00am - 4:30pm each day
- Permanent positions are also available!! Permanent RNs are eligible for Sign-On Bonuses, our Excellent Benefits packages, and Generous PTO plans.
Shifts:
- 7:00pm - 7:00am
- Weekends Only (Friday/Saturday/Sunday): 7:00pm - 7:00am

Essential Job Duties:
- Provide direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team
- Provide medical management and assessment of patients
- Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population
- Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through
- Make patient and task assignments to subordinates and monitor their performance of duties
- Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, and that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates
- Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN Preferred
- Hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of VA, or Compact State License
- Prefer one year of inpatient medical surgery, rehab, or psychiatric experience
- Must be able to sustain physical activity and be able to remain on feet throughout the scheduled shift
- Prefer experience working with children and adolescents in healthcare setting
- Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, and ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information
- Must consistently exhibit mental and emotional ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job
Pay is Hourly (bi-weekly) and is commensurate with education and experience.
