The successful candidate for this position must possess a Bachelors Degree in Education (Special Education / Elementary Education), with valid and active Pennsylvania Teaching Certifications in Special Education (PK-8 and / or PK-12). The professional candidate(s) selected for this assignment understands and agrees that they may be required to teach in a blended or online format as requested by administration.
Three to five years of teaching experience in public education is preferred. Experience and working knowledge of collaborative instructional practices with regular education staff, as well as Direct Instruction experience teaching replacement skills (Reading, Writing, Math, Self-Regulation, Executive Functioning, and Social / Emotional Skills) to mastery is desired.
Responsibilities / skills of this position include, but are not limited to the following :
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Strong organizational and effective written communication skills
- Knowledge related to the diagnostic implications of autism and how it can impact students' access to / progress in the general education curriculum (i.e. development of reading, writing, math, communication, self-regulation, social / emotional, and executive functioning skills). Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis, PEAK, and other related curriculum strongly desired.
- Ability to provide differentiated direct instruction, effectively monitor data collected, and adjust instruction aligned to data analysis based on best practice (i.e Explicit Instruction)
- Familiarity with and application of Ch 14 requirements (i.e. completion of legally compliant Re-Evaluation Reports, Individualized Education Programs, and other related documents)
