In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Enhancing Product Quality : By performing routine analyses and physical tests, you'll ensure that materials meet the required standards, directly contributing to the quality of the final products.

Supporting Engineering Teams : Your work with analytical instruments and data interpretation will provide valuable insights to production and non-production engineering, quality, and manufacturing groups.

Improving Laboratory Efficiency : Through the development and documentation of laboratory methods, you'll streamline processes and improve the overall efficiency of the lab.

Maintaining Equipment Reliability : Regular calibration, maintenance, and minor repairs of instruments will ensure that all equipment operates reliably, minimizing downtime and ensuring accurate results.

Ensuring Safety and Compliance : By coordinating chemical waste disposal and participating in quality procedures, you'll help maintain a safe and compliant working environment.

Training and Mentoring : Working with apprentices, trainees, and technicians, you'll share your expertise and help develop the next generation of skilled professionals.

Facilitating Communication : Interfacing with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions, you'll ensure clear and effective communication, which is crucial for successful project execution.

Driving Continuous Improvement : Participating in improvement projects and audits, you'll contribute to the ongoing enhancement of processes and procedures, driving the organization towards greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Data Acquisition : Ensure you prepare samples accurately, verify equipment calibration, and perform tests according to approved procedures. This will guarantee reliable data that can be trusted by engineers and customers.

Data Reporting : Develop clear and organized documentation that presents testing methods, instrument settings, data, and analysis. This will help engineers and customers understand the results and make informed decisions.

Material Characterization : Use laboratory equipment to interpret mechanical, chemical, microstructural, and physical properties. Correlate these properties with field or component test results to confirm compliance and robustness.

Collaboration : Build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with others to achieve shared objectives. Effective teamwork will enhance overall performance and project success.

Effective Communication : Develop and deliver communications that cater to the unique needs of different audiences. Clear communication is essential for conveying information and ensuring understanding.

Customer Focus : Build strong relationships with customers and deliver solutions that meet their needs. A customer-centric approach will enhance satisfaction and loyalty.

Decision Quality : Make timely and well-informed decisions to keep the organization moving forward. Good decision-making skills are crucial for addressing challenges and seizing opportunities.

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 

High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required. 

Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required. 

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

Experience: 

Prefer some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
