Job Summary
Builds, repairs and prepares articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment. Installs test article into test structure (test cell, table, rig, etc.). Performs tests in accordance with set test methods.

METs are responsible for supporting engine test cells for engineering development testing. This entails maintaining data collection systems, engine/test cell instrumentation, performing mechanical work in/around the test cells, and collecting data for engineering development purposes. Some commonly used data acquisition/monitoring systems include Cyflex, Calterm, IndiCom, AVL, Horiba, CAI, FTIR, PM measurement, soot carts, load cells, and fluid flow meters. Disassembles and rebuilds production and experimental engines and components; measures and records measurements. Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness. Installs engines and components in test cells or test rigs. Fabricates necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings. Diagnoses engine and test cell problems. Executes written work requests and reports on results in a specified format. Supports technicians and engineers as required. Understands and applies appropriate Company and department rules and guidelines to work. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions. Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures. Participates in improvement projects. Maintains cleanliness within the workplace. Knows and complies with departmental safety policies and procedures. Demonstrates confidentiality as required.
