Position Overview

Cumulus Media | Wisconsin is looking for an Assistant Engineer. The Assistant Engineer works with the Chief Engineer to manage the installation, maintenance and repair of studio, transmitting and ancillary equipment in order to maintain competitive signals in the market while complying with all FCC technical requirements. Includes responsibility for telecommunications, computer and networking systems, and information technology.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Helps to maintain station operation through preventative and corrective maintenance
• Establishes routine maintenance procedures and schedules for all broadcast equipment
• Assists with the installation and maintenance of control consoles, audio routers, recording equipment, microphones, digital audio systems, transmitters, control systems, remote equipment, etc.
• Works with local management to coordinate remote broadcasts as needed
• Responsibilities include compliance with FCC rules and regulations
• Travel to other markets or towers and stations may be required
• 24/7 on call
  
  

Qualifications

The qualifications and experience listed below are what we would like to have in an ideal candidate, but any related experience is a plus and all interested candidates should not hesitate to apply.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Previous Broadcasting experience
• Working knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations
• Experience with EAS, Studio Telephone, Audio over IP consoles,
• Network and VOIP Phone system administration experience
• Experience with Microsoft Windows OS and Office Suite, Automation Systems, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server
• Experience with wiring, especially terminating Category cabling
• Familiarity with transmitter remote control systems
• IT connectivity troubleshooting
• Knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, and standby generators and record keeping
• SBE CBRE Certification a plus
  
  

Requirements

• Associates or technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field or equivalent level of experience
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders is required
