Product Underwriter II (Remote)

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for handling files/accounts that present complex or precedent setting underwriting situations. The key focus is to identify all risks and exposures, implement appropriate solutions and properly price files/classify risks. This position will also be accountable for collaborating closely with field staff, customers and other CUNA Mutual Group business areas, as appropriate. Serve as a risk assessment resource for other underwriters through formal and informal training and consultation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate customer risks and exposures for assigned product line(s).
• Apply underwriting knowledge, judgment and appropriate underwriting philosophy to determine what information is needed.
• Review new policy applications, declaration pages, questionnaires and other support documents for completeness of information.
• Underwrite policies up to corporate retention.
• Participate in the development, testing and enhancements to underwriting tools and aids.
• Participate in or lead special projects/initiatives as needed.
• Serve as a mentor or trainer to other underwriters.
• Works within a high level letter of authority/decisioning with a full territory assigned.
• May or may not be a product specialist within the underwriting organization
• Consult with compliance, legal, product, and/or customers will a high level of confidence and little oversight.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related professional work experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible underwriting experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal/external customers.
• Strong organizational, analytical and planning skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Project management skills.
• Demonstrated desire to continue professional growth/education.
• Willingness to travel.

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.

Base Salary Range:

$74,700.00 - $112,000.00
