Position Overview:
The Field Operations Manager plays a key role in coordinating drivers, managing field operations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This position requires a hands-on leader with excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills who can work under pressure while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Operations Oversight: Be present in the field during shifts to monitor and manage day-to-day operations.
- On-Call Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for driver issues, emergencies, and call-outs. Be prepared to drive when coverage is needed.
- Driver Training & Development: Train new hires and provide ongoing retraining to existing drivers to ensure adherence to company policies and best practices.
- Compliance & Safety Management: Ensure drivers complete daily pre- and post-trip inspections and follow all safety protocols and company regulations.
- Performance Monitoring: Analyze GPS logs, driver performance metrics, and efficiency data to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with the office staff to track vehicle maintenance needs and ensure timely service.
- Timekeeping & Log Auditing: Review and verify the accuracy of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) logs and driver timecards.
- Scheduling & Route Optimization: Develop and adjust driver schedules to meet operational demands and optimize delivery routes for efficiency.
- Conflict Resolution: Handle conflicts or unexpected issues with professionalism and composure to maintain seamless operations.
- Coordination & Communication: Ensure effective communication between field staff, office teams, and drivers to facilitate on-time pickups and deliveries.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a field operations, dispatch, or logistics-related role.
- Proficiency with technology tools such as GPS systems, ELDs, and scheduling software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to lead and mentor a diverse team.
- Open availability in working days and hours.
