Position Overview:
As a Fleet Safety Specialist, you will focus on promoting and maintaining a culture of safety within CunEx Inc.’s Pick-Up and Delivery (P&D) and Line Haul operations. You will be responsible for conducting safety inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance, assisting with training programs, and analyzing safety data to identify trends and recommend improvements. This role is ideal for someone with a hands-on approach to safety and experience in the transportation or logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (FMCSA, DOT, OSHA), as well as internal safety policies.
- Incident Support: Participate in accident and incident investigations, gather information, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Driver Support & Coaching: Collaborate with drivers to address safety concerns and provide feedback on safe driving practices.
- Audits & Inspections: Conduct vehicle inspections and audits to assess compliance and identify potential risks.
- Safety Training: Assist with the development and delivery of safety training programs, including defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Track and analyze safety metrics to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, compliance activities, and incident investigations.
- Safety Communication: Contribute to regular safety meetings and awareness campaigns to promote proactive safety practices across the organization.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in transportation or logistics.
- Knowledge of federal and state safety regulations (FMCSA, DOT, OSHA).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to analyze and present safety data.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant safety certification (preferred).
- Familiarity with FedEx Ground safety standards (preferred).
