Excellent opportunity at a growing engineering & surveying company for a Professional Surveyor.
We provide residential and commercial surveying services including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, subdivision plats and construction surveying. The candidate must be able to do occasional outdoor work in all weather conditions, with exposure to vehicle traffic, densely wooded areas, wildlife, varied terrain, and active construction operations. Must be able to access a variety of sites and terrain, carry up to 50 lbs., use hand tools, measuring devices and other equipment in support of the survey process. In this role, you will coordinate with staff to prepare calculations, solve boundaries, create and review various survey documents and reports.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree – Surveying & Mapping (or equivalent in related field)
Valid Driver’s License
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D & Microsoft Office
Candidate must pass a drug screen prior to employment
Desired Qualifications:
Professional Surveyor (PS) license (OH) or qualified to obtain within 6 months
Three years of experience (Field & Office) in boundary surveying, construction stakeout and topographic surveying
Responsibilities/Skills:
Must possess understanding of the fundamentals of land surveying, basic measurement, math and trigonometry, plat and deed interpretation, construction plans, field notes and sketch comprehension
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, meet project deadlines and budgets
Represent the company in a professional way and with integrity
Conduct boundary and utility research both online and at municipal offices
Work with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office and related software to prepare construction staking calculations, easement exhibits, subdivision plats, property boundary surveys, metes and bounds descriptions, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys as well as other pertinent residential, commercial and municipal survey and engineering documents
Ability to work collaboratively with engineering team and field survey crew(s)
Conduct surveys to determine property boundaries
Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to land surveys
Proficiency in modern surveying technology and software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) software
Strong knowledge of local and federal surveying laws and regulations
Understanding of surveying principles and practices
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
Strong organizational and project management skills
Take measurements and determine property boundaries
Assist with construction staking or site layout surveys
An ability to follow safety guidelines and demonstrate a sense of urgency related to project deadlines is essential to this role.
Collect field data using Data Collector with Total Station (Robotic) and/or GPS equipment, photo documentation, setting stakes, obtaining invert and subsurface utility information
