Position Overview: The Special Education Instructional Coach is responsible for supporting and guiding teachers to enhance their teaching practices and improve student outcomes. This role involves collaboration with teachers, school staff, and administrators to implement effective strategies, provide professional development, and foster data-driven decision-making. The Instructional Coach will work closely with teachers and provide personalized 1:1 support to address individual or group goals. This position offers job-embedded professional learning opportunities in a collaborative and supportive environment, ensuring high-quality classroom instruction through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to improve instructional practices and student performance.
- Model, co-plan, co-teach, and provide feedback to enhance classroom instruction.
- Facilitate data-driven decision-making to support student learning.
- Provide individualized and group support based on teacher needs and goals.
- Offer professional development and training to school staff.
- Assist in the implementation of Special Education strategies and best practices.
- Work closely with students, teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, and community agency representatives to promote student success.
- Utilize technology to support instruction and enhance classroom practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education; Master’s degree in Education or a related field preferred.
- Certification: Must be a Licensed Special Education Teacher and meet all qualifications set by the Illinois State Board of Education, or hold an LBS1 certification.
- Experience: At least five years of successful classroom teaching experience.
