FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Communication Arts, Sciences, and Disorders with a specialization in Health Communication with a starting date in August 2025.
The Department of Communication Arts, Sciences, and Disorders (CASD) is one of the largest departments in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, serving over 500 majors a year. CASD is a community of scholars, researchers, and clinicians who facilitate students' exploration of human communication and disorders. We combine science with humanities, link theory to practice, and provide students with knowledge and skills in evidence-based practice. The department offers majors and minors in professional communication and in communication sciences and disorders (CSD; Speech-Language Pathology [M.S.], and Audiology [Au.D.]), and it administers the Interdisciplinary Communication Program, the largest interdisciplinary program at BC.
We are looking for a colleague with a teaching and research agenda in health communication. A focus on issues of diversity and equity in healthcare settings is a plus.
The successful candidate will :
- Teach a wide variety of courses in the Interdisciplinary Communication Program, covering different branches of communication studies;
- Develop and maintain a research agenda;
- Assist majors in academic advising, shedding light on degree / major requirements and professional / career related options, providing guidance and support;
- Organize events or activities that encourage / promote academic success as well as personal and professional growth in students in the major;
- Attend recruitment events such as the Undergraduate Open House and Major Fairs, meeting with prospective students to talk about Brooklyn College and the Interdisciplinary Communication Program;
- Share responsibility for committee and department assignments;
- Other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION
72,667 - $93,134; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
