  • CEEDS (Cadet Education, Empowerment & Development for Success)
  • is a collaborative program between John Jay College and the New York City Department of Correction to create a career pipeline from the City University of New York to the leadership ranks of the New York City Department of Correction. Through academic course work,professional development workshops, internships, and work experiences in corrections, CEEDS provide student cadets with strong educational and practical backgrounds in critical issues facing the field of corrections. Utilizing the CUNY Justice Academy (OA), a dual enrollment programfor students at six CUNY community colleges and John Jay College, this partnership reaches across New York Citys five boroughs.
  • Reporting to the Associate Director for DOC partnerships, the CEEDS Academic Program Coordinator will be responsible for providing year-around program and student support for up to 60 under graduates in the CEEDS program. The successful candidate will :

  • Participate in the implementation of comprehensive success programming and cohort support for CEEDS students.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Director for DOC partnerships.
  • Manage office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities.
  • Update CEEDS recruitment materials and lead recruitment efforts for John Jay students.
  • Work with the OA staff at John Jay College to identify eligible students and ensure their transition and registration at John Jay College.
  • Maintain records of student progress and provide reports as needed; create and lead success workshops for students.
  • Provide academic support and success coaching to students.
  • Serve as information resource on CEEDS policies and procedures for students, faculty, and staff at John Jay College and CJA partner campuses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor Degree required and 2 years related experience in higher education setting with diverse population. A Master Degree without any experience counts as 2 years' experience

  • We are looking for a team player with a background in higher education, who is familiar with the field of criminal justice / corrections. Strong preference will be given to candidates who have :

  • A professional background in academic advising or students success support
  • Experience working with a diverse student group
  • Knowledge of criminal justice / corrections programs or careers
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral communication skills
  • Experience in creating and delivering presentations

  • Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration
  • Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities
  • Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students
  • Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards
  • Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures
  • May supervise office operations and / or monitor department budget

    Salary commensurate with education and experience.
