- GENERAL DUTIES
Media Services Technicians under supervision or direction, perform technical work of varying degrees of difficulty in the set-up, operation, training, troubleshooting, general maintenance and repair of digital / analog, audio-visual, video production, DVD, computer system, digital photography, presentation, recording, projection, duplication, and related broadcast production equipment in a classroom, shop, studio or in the field. Media Services Technicians must have a general knowledge of Windows and Apple based computers along with pertinent software. They may transport equipment for on-site use or shop repair, as well as operate a motor vehicle for such purposes. All Media Services Technicians perform related work.
ASSIGNMENT LEVEL I- Under supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty, as follows :
Operates motor vehicle, as necessary.
ASSIGNMENT LEVEL II- In addition to Level II duties, incumbents will also perform those tasks performed by Level I Media Services Technicians. Under general supervision performs work of greater difficulty, as follows :

The Media Service Technician Level 3 (Provisional) at Kingsborough Community College will report to the Administrative Events Manager or his / her Designee.
The Office of Events Management at Kingsborough Community College / CUNY supports all campus events and meetings that require room reservations and technical services. The department coordinates with internal and external entities to execute events, meetings and rentals successfully. In addition, we manage the relationship between our on-campus food vendors and all venue rentals.
Reporting to the Administrative Events Manager, Events Management is seeking a Media Services Technician to support the department's technical activities and assist in the planning and executing of campus events, including rentals and productions in the Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center (PAC).
Collaborates with the Administrative Event Manager to support the event planning and execution of internal (College) and external events, including rentals.
Advises and justifies technical equipment that needs to be removed, replaced, and purchased.
Sets up projectors for presentation viewing (including but not limited to computers, laptops, and presentation clickers) and audio equipment (including but not limited to speakers and microphones) in spaces where events are taking place. Breaks down technical event setups after events.
Conducts walkthroughs of campus events to ensure and provide proper setup, execution, and breakdown; offers technical services in event facilities (ensures that computers in event spaces are turned on and functioning so that clients can host their events without issues) and troubleshoot problems in the field as they arise.
Keeps inventory of equipment and supplies belonging to Events Management and the Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center (e.g., AV equipment).
Follows design and work plans and instructions for each production.
Interfaces with all incoming companies and in-house staff in a professional manner.
Keeps abreast of the latest equipment and techniques in the field and abides by all safety standards.
Monitors and troubleshoots presentation quality within assigned specialty areas during rehearsals.
Operates lighting console and / or audio console for all performances as required.
Provides guidance and support, if needed, to stage preparation and production-related tasks from load-in through strike and care and maintenance of all theatrical goods and equipment.
Reviews plan for booked events and in-house events in any theatrical specialty areas such as audio, lighting or staging, properties, and rigging.
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
2. A certificate or diploma in radio and television mechanics or related trades from an accredited vocational high school or technical school
3. Education and / or experience equivalent to 1 and 2 above. Two (2) years of certified experience as a member of a high school audio-visual squad

This amount reflects a $13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 Months of employment.
