JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL, MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8)
Under the direction of the Superintendent and with support form District administrators, serves as the site instructional leader and manager; administers school-wide curriculum and all phases of the instructional program and management of the facility; provides leadership, administrative and supervisory skills for the educational development of students; and promotes parent and community engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads and monitors implementation of curriculum alignment with state standards, performance-based assessments, use of instructional technology and articulation efforts.
2. Participates in the planning, coordination and delivery of appropriate staff development to ensure the continued professional growth of faculty and staff.
3. Oversees the proper maintenance and care of all buildings, equipment and campus grounds.
4. Provides appropriate professional channels for communicating personal and professional concerns of school personnel.
5. Maintains good relationships with students, staff and parents, and complies with established lines of authority.
6. Plans, organizes and implements a school-wide program for the supervision, monitoring, safety and security of students, buildings and grounds.
7. Maintains awareness of educational trends and developments as they relate to school program development.
8. Works closely and cooperatively as a member of the District management team.
9. Acknowledge accomplishments of staff members and students.

- Establishes, maintains and nurtures effective working relationships with parents, community members, students and school related outside agencies.
- Develops school goals and plans accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program.
- Ensures that the school program is compatible with the legal, financial and organizational structure of the District.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve medical, attitude, discipline and learning problems.
- Develops, maintains and oversees the school’s budget.
- Establishes, implements and evaluates procedures used to carry out the daily routine of the school.
- Ensures that instructional objectives for a given subject and/or classroom are developed, and involves the faculty and others in the development of specific curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program.
- Maintains inter-school system communication and implements emergency communication procedures.
- Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program as required by law.
- Plans, coordinates, and evaluates the work of credentialed and classified staff members at the school site.
- Participates in the selection of school site personnel.
- Approves master schedule of teaching schedules and special assignments.
- Supervises extra-curricular activities.
- Attends professional meetings and other meetings regarding District and school business, SST's, IEP's, etc.
- Evaluates student progress in the instructional program through effective communication with teachers, counselors and review of student records.
- Manages, directs, and maintains records on the materials, supplies and equipment which are necessary to carry out the daily school routine.
- Maintains awareness of community resources available to assist students.
- Meets with students and parents concerning student issues.
- Maintains high standard of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students.
- Monitors standardized test results of students at the school site and completes related reports.
- Serves on school and District committees and organizations to assure the interests of the school are properly served.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Assist in the preparation of the annual site budget, and assist in the monitoring of budgetary expenditures.
- Direct, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
- Interview and select employees and recommend disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate and arrange for appropriate training of subordinates.
- Develop programs and activities that promote diversity acceptance and a positive school environment.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
- Oversee the work of instructional aides and ensure NCLB compliance.
- Motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each pupil's ability.

Salary : $173,468 - $215,630
