Role and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management of the hospice programs and services of the hospice branch.
- Adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws is required.
- This position is key to developing and following the cultural standards of the company. The Branch Director is responsible for the compliant growth of the hospice branch and the day-to-day internal tasks.
Essential Functions:
- Organizes and directs on-going functions of hospice by leading and mentoring the support staff of the hospice branch.
- Upholds and leads based on the Standards of Medicare and Cura Policies and Procedures and cultural values.
- Maintains all office systems and organizes and evaluates staff operations and procedures.
- Reviews accounts payables, personnel and clerical records for Hospice and Branch for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepares required reports for upper leadership, summarizes information.
- Orients, trains, and supervises assigned clerical personnel.
- Maintains and monitors the budget standards set for the branch. Responsible for being a good steward of the resources given and allocated to perform daily tasks and management.
- Maintains database information.
- Reviews payroll within appropriate timeframe.
- Updates the employee charts timely.
- Holds the staff accountable to confirm that the documentation of services provided is accurate and timely.
- Must ensure that substantially all core services are routinely provided directly by Hospice employees from a local level.
- Strong organizational and time management skills are a must.
- Assist with company in-services as needed.
- Serves as an effective resource for customer/patient information on all Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
- Responsible for completion of reports for each location and as needed and requested by upper leadership. Provide information and reports that track statistics and trends for the CEO, COO, Vice- President, Billing Dept, Regional Executive Director and the Compliance Board
- Continually has ongoing knowledge of the Hospice Regulations and Conditions of Participation and any changes.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the governing board.
- Available to answer and respond to calls promptly Mon-Fri 8-5 at minimum and may be called for additional hours if necessary.
- Adheres to the Hospice Policy and Code of Ethics
- Possesses adequate knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and insurance standards to ensure reimbursement for all services rendered.
- Conforms to all applicable Hospice policies and procedures.
- Participates actively in continuing education and in-services.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information and business trade practices.
- Reports Incidents or complaints according to the Hospice Policy.
Information Management:
- Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security according to HIPAA laws.
Risk Management:
- Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.
- Keeps abreast of changes in health care laws.
- Maintains agency/program compliance with local, state and federal laws.
- Reports any compliance issues to the Regional Executive Director, Vice- President, and the CEO
Environmental Conditions:
Works with immediate responsiveness. Requires occasional travel to different locations for meetings, in-services, training’s, IDG’s, accounts etc.
- Basic Requirements:
- Ability to communicate hospice benefits concisely and completely to patients, families, and staff.
- Cooperative attitude.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Self-starting, motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- High energy level and a willingness to work additional hours when necessary to accomplish designated tasks.
- Productive time management skills.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and intake and billing software.
- Responsible for developing and managing all budgets in the region.
- Responsible for submitting timely daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Responsive to emails and phone calls daily.

No listing on OIG Excluded Providers List, Valid Driver’s License and current auto liability insurance. Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
