Job Overview
The ParentChild Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Early Learning Specialist is responsible for providing home visits to families with young children aged 16 months to 4 years old. This position follows the family and continues engagement with them for a minimum of 92 visits over the course of up to 2 years. The focus of these visits is to model how to use books and educational toys to generate enthusiasm for learning and verbal interactions which will increase and support school readiness. This is a part-time position for up to 1000 hours per year.
These programs have a reputation in the community for providing culturally competent services with particular expertise in serving low-income families. Valuing diversity and championing anti-racism policy and program delivery are core values. The ParentChild Early Learning Specialist reports to and is supervised by the ParentChild Site Coordinator. The position is paid hourly and hours vary based on home visitor caseload size.

Responsibilities
- Provide home visits 2x a week to parents of children age 2 and 3 according to the agency and national ParentChild guidelines
- 2x a week home visits 30 minutes each, 1st visit bring book or toy and demonstrate how to use to cultivate language and verbal skills
- Provide age and culturally competent services during hours convenient for the parents and children being visited
- Model behaviors that enhance children’s development and promote school readiness and coach the caregiver as they engage with their child(ren)
- Attend training for the ParentChild program provided by the Site Coordinator or The ParentChild National Center
- Meet outcomes for services delivery determined by ParentChild and Supervising staff
- Coordinate delivery approach and services with other staff
- Perform assessments according to contract guidelines
- Provide documentation as required by the ParentChild National Center and PHMC
- Apply strengths-based model as a method of delivering services for all families
- Attend weekly team meeting with Site Coordinator and other Early Learning Specialists
- Respond to messages daily Monday through Friday
- Demonstrated fluency in English
- Demonstrated fluency in Spanish (native speaker)
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to multicultural practices
- Demonstrated ability to relate and work effectively with culturally, economically and educationally diverse families, staff, social service and community organizations and the public
- Ability and willingness to work independently and as part of a team and to make sound judgments without on-site supervision
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make home visits as needed and to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends when necessary
- Reliable transportation
- Experience working effectively & respectfully in a multicultural setting; thorough understanding of culturally specific community
- Experience working with young children
- Willingness to participate in training and develop a knowledge of child development

- This job includes the normal physical demands associated with office work including bending, lifting, and carrying.
- This position may include the need to attend weekend or evening meetings or trainings and might involve travel
