Cure 4 The Kids Foundation is a multi-specialty pediatric clinic seeking a self-motivated Phlebotomist who absolutely thrives on details, accuracy and efficiency in their work while maintaining excellent customer service skills. This is a very busy pediatric medical practice and we are seeking high-energy people who enjoy working at a fast-pace while providing quality service and care.
This is a role that requires a multi-disciplinary team approach to solving problems and patient challenges. "That's not my job" or "someone else can do it" is not in our team vocabulary because we are here to be of support to each other. The primary goal is to bring the best patient care and experience for our area's children.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Performs a variety of routine and complex pediatric blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture and finger and heel stick, using standard equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes and butterfly needles.
b) Confer with patients to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation.
c) Utilize standard procedures for the maintenance of positive patient identification; record appropriate collection information on proper requisitions.
d) Centrifuge, label, and store blood samples for subsequent analysis by the Laboratory.
e) Maintain inventory of supplies; reorder and stock supplies on carts and hand trays.
f) Perform lab testing, resulting, and reporting.
g) Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Task specific duties.
_____ Record room temperature, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and humidity.
_____ Perform start up and quality control procedure for CBC and Sed rate analyzers.
_____ Perform testing for CBC and Sed rate analysis.
_____ Perform quality control procedure for urinalysis analysis.
_____ Perform quality control procedure and analysis for INR.
_____ Perform quality control for glucose analysis.
_____ Perform testing for glucose analysis.
_____ Perform quality control procedure for urine hCG analysis.
_____ Perform urine hCG analysis.
_____ Change reagents as required for analyzers.
_____ Verify results and report any critical results in accordance to laboratory policies.
_____ Assist with the collection of bone marrow aspiration and biopsy procedure.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS*: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Position requires a high school diploma or GED, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Phlebotomy certification required (lab assistant or office lab assistant certification through the Division of Public and Behavioral Health in Nevada).
  • Previous work-related skills, knowledge, or experience is required.
  • Position requires 2 years of experience as a Phlebotomist and six months of laboratory experience or laboratory coursework OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for performing phlebotomy. Some heavy lifting and prolonged standing. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Spanish speaking preferred, but not required
HEALTH REQUIREMENT: Cure 4 The Kids Foundation complies with the Medicare and Medicaid mandatory Covid vaccination requirements.
