We are rapidly growing and seeking a talented individual to join our Process Development Team in Biologics for Cell Culture, mRNA and plasmid DNA production and purification. As an Research Scientist I, you will report to the Senior Scientist – Process Development and will be based in our Hopkinton office.

The incumbent will be responsible for assisting and implementing the development of RNA in vitro transcription, capping and purification parameters to support manufacturing. The employee will be responsible for general lab support, executing projects within the laboratory, writing study/research plans, and summarizing data to clients and colleagues via technical reports. The position requires a drive to provide outstanding customer service by maintaining regular communications with clients, as well as meeting or exceeding quality and timeline expectations.

- Conduct scale-up activities from development to GMP manufacturing scales in wave bag and bioreactors (Sartorius Bioreactor Systems a plus).
- Assist with set up, maintenance and operation of single use stirred tank bioreactors and harvest operations (depth filtration, tangential flow filtration).
- Purify biologics via TFF and FPLC AKTA-based chromatography.
- Design and conduct research on mRNA and plasmid DNA production and purification.
- Perform proof-of-concept research on mRNA synthesis applications and workflows.
- Characterize samples using known techniques for purity and integrity.
- Additional experience with molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, ELISA, Western blotting preferred.
- Provide general lab support and management.
- Communicate project updates and technical reports to supervisor and senior level management.
- Identify and promptly troubleshoot technical issues.
- Keen in learning new methods and techniques.

- BS (0 years industry experience) in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biology, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience in performing reactions utilizing micro pipetting is required.
- Experience with aseptic technique is required.
- Prior experience with cGMP/cGLP regulatory guidelines related to pharmaceutical biologics development is a plus.
- Experience in protein/antibody/RNA purification is a plus.
- Good organizational skills are required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be able to clearly and accurately present written data and be comfortable with oral presentations.
- Able to work well independently, as well as collaboratively.
- Excellent multi-tasking abilities and exceptional attention to details are required.
