UTILITIES ENGINEER
The Utilities Engineer will ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of the facility utility systems, which include HVAC, steam, compressed air, inert gas, process chillers, electrical distribution, and emission control.

The Utilities Engineer will ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of the facility utility systems, which include HVAC, steam, compressed air, inert gas, process chillers, electrical distribution, and emission control. The individual in this role will develop a monitoring strategy for these systems and implement improvement plans to assure their on-going performance. The role will include cross-functional support to operations, maintenance, EHS, and quality to assure compliance and timely delivery of manufactured products to customers.

The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Utilize and further develop technical knowledge of utility systems to serve as site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for utilities that support manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. You will provide technical SME support for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic improvements or changes that impact utilities or utilities maintenance.
- Develop scope and approval requests for capital projects that enhance utility reliability, performance, or efficiency. Requests will include development of equipment specifications, user requirement specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, and change controls to integrate improved machinery-utilities into the site.
- Manage capital utility improvement projects through design, construction and qualification phases through selection and direction of vendors or contractors to deliver on-time and on-budget project execution.
- Lead or support overall compliance requirements for the Utilities areas, including SOPs, change control, permit compliance, safety/quality incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), safety procedures, quality standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and other relevant regulatory agency standards per expectations established by the EHS or quality assurance teams.
- This site operates 24/7, and you may be required to provide engineering support to Plant operations 24/7 as needed (overall facilities, utilities, equipment, etc.).
- Prepare, review and/or approve utility system instructions and as necessary to ensure processes are operated safely and under necessary GMP control.
- Effective collaboration with other company functions and departments.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- The utilities engineer will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial) with at least 8 years of experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or preparation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) packages in a consulting role are preferred.
- Experience with ACAD in creating or modifying utility system drawings such as electrical one-line drawings, Piping and Instrument Diagrams, and layout drawings as are typically used as part of MEP development.
- Track record of being a self-starter with hands-on experience in equipment upgrades and integration of new technology to improve plant facilities / central utilities operations.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
