Role Description:
Curio is seeking an experienced Manager, Nuclear Fuels to lead the development and commercialization of advanced nuclear fuel recycling and reprocessing technologies for dual use applications. This full-time, on-site role is based in Washington, DC, and involves overseeing strategic initiatives that drive innovation in pyroprocessing, fluorination, and electrorefining. The ideal candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with key stakeholders to position Curio at the forefront of nuclear fuel cycle solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the research, development, and commercialization of nuclear fuel recycling and reprocessing technologies, focusing on pyroprocessing, fluorination, and electrorefining.
- Develop strategic roadmaps for technology advancement and market deployment across commercial and defense sectors.
- Oversee multidisciplinary teams, fostering effective collaboration among engineers, chemists, and project managers.
- Drive technology scaling from lab to market, including pilot projects and commercialization strategies.
- Collaborate with government agencies, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to advance regulatory compliance and market viability.
- Communicate complex technical and strategic concepts clearly and effectively to leadership, partners, and customers.
- Ensure all operations comply with NRC regulations, national safety standards, and defense-related security requirements.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in nuclear fuel cycle technology development, management, and commercialization, focusing on recycling and reprocessing.
- Proven experience in national laboratories, NRC-licensed operator facilities, or defense-related nuclear programs.
- Expertise in pyroprocessing, fluorination, and electrorefining is required.
- Demonstrated leadership in guiding technology development from concept to commercialization, including defense-related applications.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, including experience working with government agencies and defense contractors.
- Background in the nuclear industry with a focus on technology commercialization for both commercial and defense sectors is highly desirable.
