What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Assistant Director position at Curious Jane?
We are looking for a wonderful Summer Camp Assistant Director at Curious Jane Summer Camp. Curious Jane is an all girls Summer Camp that builds girls confidence in science, engineering and design. Curious Jane currently has 3 Summer Camp locations in Denver and is looking for an Assistant Director to help at these locations throughout the Summer.
training & time commitment at camp
- Assistant Director is expected to commit a full week of preparation, prior to the opening of camp if not start as early as 5/1 or 5/15 with admin tasks, supply bin ordering and organizing and curriculum planning and organizing. The Assistant Director is expected to work in person starting 6/4 - hours roughly 9-5pm.

- High Energy and the ability to be adaptable and quick in a number of situations.
- Be fully familiar with all CJ curriculum, CJ core values, and the systems previously set up by CJHQ to help camp run smoothly.
- Working with a group of 40-80 campers weekly and keeping an open line of communication with their parents and guardians.
- Assisting Director with staff of 12-15 counselors
- Overseeing and supporting the CIT program (12-15 CITs per week)
- Leading and supporting staff in creating and building a supportive and fun environment for the girls.
- Key Skills – punctuality, preparedness, classroom management, creativity, energy, and fun!
Curious Jane provides all curriculum a month prior to camp, and we provide all the supplies for these project plans *however* the invitation and expectation is that instructors bring their own ideas, interests and experiences to the class. Curious Jane is great because of the staff! Young girls have a chance to be around smart, engaged women who share their interests, encourage them, and show them new things.
qualifications & compensation
- College degree or higher
- Experience teaching and working with children; in a school, camp or other educational setting
- Experience at Curious Jane or running programs that are similar in nature to Curious Jane
- Strong communication skills and openness to collaboration at all levels
- Compensation based on past teaching experience, number of years with Curious Jane, and number of years as a director at a Curious Jane program

We run project-based summer camps for girls entering K-6th grades, all revolving around science engineering design. Everything is hands-on, colorful, fun and inventive... we build confidence through making things!
With weekly themes like Spy Science, Room Makeover, Fab Lab Female Designers, Kitchen Chemistry and Miniatures World –– it’s all about making fun things and making things fun!
Compensation
- Varies from $850 - $1000 per week depending on daily schedule and previous years with Curious Jane and prior teaching experience.
