Job description
We are looking for wonderful Summer Camp Lead Counselors (both currently enrolled in College and College graduates to lead our classes at Curious Jane Summer Camp. Curious Jane is an all girls Summer Camp that builds girls confidence in science, engineering and design. We would love to have Instructors on board for all 6 weeks of camp but are flexible.
Preference to candidates who are available the full 6 weeks of camp 6/9 - 7/18. Must be available daily to arrive on campus 7:45-8am and depart 3:30pm. Must be available for staff trainings on Thursday 6/5 and Friday 6/6.
Option to start as early as 5/15 on a part-time basis as well as lead camps through end of July at our other locations.

About Curious Jane
We run project-based summer camps for girls entering K-6th grades, all revolving around science engineering design. Everything is hands-on, colorful, fun and inventive... we build confidence through making things!
With weekly themes like Spy Science, Room Makeover, Fab Lab Female Designers, Kitchen Chemistry and Miniatures World –– it’s all about making fun things and making things fun!
Instructor Responsibilities and Expectations
- Lead a class size of 12-15 campers and be able to manage our middle school CITs (about 2 per class) with the assistance of a Counselor and CIT
- Be fully familiar with the Curious Jane curriculum prior to camp, and prepare examples of all projects
- Work with the rest of the staff to create and build a supportive and fun environment for the girls
- Key Skills: punctuality, preparedness, classroom management, creativity, energy, and fun!
- Comfortable with moving around a lot; Instructors are expected to be on their feet most of the day
Curious Jane provides all curriculum prior to camp, and we provide all the supplies for these project plans *however* the invitation and expectation is that instructors bring their own ideas, interests and experiences to the class. Curious Jane is great because of the staff! Young girls have a chance to be around smart, engaged women who share their interests, encourage them, and show them new things.
Staff Structure
We build staff teams to work at each location. The On-Site Director leads the staff and oversees all aspects of the camp. Lead Counselors teach a specific class like Obey Gooey Science or Make It Wear It Swiftie Style. Counselors and Jr. Counselors assist in the classroom with the Instructors. Volunteers and CITs help as needed.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in College or beyond
- Experience teaching and working with children; in a school, camp or other educational setting
- Experience with hands on projects, being on feet most of the day and playing outdoor games with campers
- Strong communication skills and openness to collaboration at all levels
Compensation
- Varies from $700 - $850 per week depending on daily schedule and previous years with Curious Jane and prior teaching experience.
