Gifted Services Teacher
Primary Purpose:
Provide specialized services to gifted students.
Provide identified gifted students with a curriculum that provides an array of challenging learning experiences based on a continuum of learning that includes creative and critical thinking, research skills, and self-directed learning (19 TAC §89.3). Student learning experiences include project-based learning opportunities, the development of advanced level products using the engineering design process, and focused independent study units.
Qualification Guidelines:
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university
Valid Texas Teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
Experience:
Two years’ experience teaching gifted students within the general education classroom
Completion of GT qualification requirements (30 hour foundational and annual updates required)
Proven ability to work with students, parents, peers, and superiors
