POSITION: Specialty Machine Operator – Pole Shop SHIFT: 1st
LABOR GRADE: 4 HOURS: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
DEPARTMENT: 82-1 NUMBER OF OPENINGS: 1
MINIMUM RATE: $20.75 MAXIMUM RATE: $22.18
*$18.93 *$20.36
- 2nd tier rate effective for all hires after 3/9/2014
DESCRIPTION: The principle tasks of the Specialty Machine Operator are as follows:
1. Set up and operate punch presses, drill presses, press brakes, shears, rollers, tapers, lathes, mills, laser machine and a variety of other fabrication equipment where recognized production methods are not available.
2. Performs irregular quantity runs, including setting up and machining of products.
3. Performs layouts, alters fixtures or uses own judgment as to methods when fixtures are not provided.
4. Assigns operators their jobs. Instructs them how to run equipment in a safe and expedient method of operation and provides samples of parts to operators.
5. Checks first piece to prints, operation sheets, and specification sheets to insure that parts meet Engineering specifications. Checks intermittent production to insure that parts meet quality standards. Must be capable of using all measuring instruments necessary to check work.
6. Works closely with management personnel on modifying existing parts or tooling.
7. Performs housekeeping duties as required or assigned. Performs material handling necessary to the performance of their job. Requisition and pick materials as needed for production while maintaining identification and location accuracy.
8. Maintains necessary production records and initiates work orders and material problems. Identifies material before moving completed parts to drop zones or other designated areas.
9. Coordinates with the department supervisor or facilitator any equipment or material problems.
10. Adheres to all plant and department safety rules
