Position Summary : This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing HMI / SCADA systems that set the standard for automation projects. As a key member of the development team, the focus will be on establishing reusable and scalable standards to support future projects, with an emphasis on graphic design and user experience. Will also ensure that products present critical information in a clear, actionable, and effective way for operators while collaborating closely with Development Lead Engineer, PLC programmers, software engineers, and product managers to create user-friendly solutions.

Qualifications : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education / Experience : Bachelor’s Degree in Controls System Engineering, Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering, Electro-Mechanical, Instrumentation, or related field, OR, 3 years of experience in HMI / SCADA system design and implementation, demonstrated expertise in developing HMI systems for industrial automation, familiarity with PLC programming and integration.
Preferred Qualifications : Experience in designing user interfaces that prioritize operator effectiveness, along with advanced scripting and graphic design in SCADA systems, knowledge of IIoT technologies and their integration with SCADA, and familiarity with agile development processes and version control systems.
Computer / Technical Skills : Proficient in SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition), graphic design, scripting (e.g., Python), industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus, Ethernet / IP), and database systems (e.g., SQL) for data integration and reporting. Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC and HMI software (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME / SE) and capable of learning additional programming tools.
Reasoning Ability : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Math Ability : Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Language Ability : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees in the organization. Ability to read electrical schematics and familiar with piping and instrument drawing (PID) and product flow drawing (PFD).
Certificates and Licenses : Valid Driver's License
Travel : Occasional travel to customer sites (approximately 2-5%) may be required but is not a regular or frequent part of this position. Travel may include destinations throughout North America by automobile, commercial airplane, or company airplane.
