What are the responsibilities and job description for the Title III Supplemental Secondary ESL Intervention Coach position at CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
- Valid Texas teacher certification; English Language Arts and Reading (7-12)
- Valid ESL certification;
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a Secondary ESL Teacher;
- Demonstrated ability to provide staff development, to present and facilitate to large audiences effectively, to develop and write curriculum, to model exemplary lessons, and to collaborate with district personnel;
- Demonstrated skills in leading, motivating, and cooperating with other teachers, campus administrators and district personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Probationary/Term Contract: 197 days
SALARY:
Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Job Related Duties:
- Coach Secondary ESL teachers during grade-level planning and share activities and instructional strategies.
- Assist Secondary ESL teachers in understanding the ELPS, TEKS, and the scope and sequence to plan instruction.
- Assist in sucessfully transitioning ESL students into English.
- Participate in instructional planning sessions and model lessons in the classrooms.
- Provide staff development training for Secondary ESL and content area teachers.
- Observe teachers and provide feedback.
- Assist with developing action plans to improve student achievement.
- Create and deliver the district's staff development sessions.
- Be knowledgable of district software.
- Attend staff development.
- Communicate with Secondary ESL coordinator regarding the development and progress of the ESL program at secondary campuses.
- Work with coordinators/director on program evaluations.
- Assist with implementation and supervision of summer school programs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Secondary ESL Coordinator and Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [Must be willing to obtain and maintain a current automated external defibrillator (AED) and CPR certificate]
- Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking
- Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move text books and classroom equipment
- Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
