Elementary Reading Coach 2024-2025
Job Title: Reading Coach Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Scale
Dept./School: Curriculum and Instruction Days: 187
Primary Purpose:
To provide reading intervention to elementary students with the desired outcome of the students to become on grade level, successful readers. To facilitate implementation of reading interventions by creating and maintaining superior standards of teaching, learning, and support services so that campus and district objectives may be better achieved.
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated, organized, reliable, adaptable.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently as well as on a team.
Education/ Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Teaching Certificate
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of literacy program design and implementation
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to interpret data
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
Experience:
Three years of teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support and promote the District’s mission, goals and objectives
- Strive to learn, acquire, and apply new skills and knowledge
- Demonstrate evidence of adaptability, flexibility and problem solving
- Utilize a variety of techniques and strategies to remediate reading instruction
- Differentiate assignments to meet individual needs of students
- Evaluate students’ progress
- Plan and participate in parent and teacher involvement regarding reading interventions
- Maintain classroom control through orderly procedures, consistent routines, and positive reinforcement.
- Perform accurate record keeping, reporting, and testing procedures.
- Participate in the campus Response to Intervention team planning, recommendations, and remediation efforts.
- Be knowledgeable about and easily access information regarding scientifically research-based methods of literacy interventions and remediation process.
- Promote positive communication with parents and teachers regarding students’ needs and progress.
- Collaborate with other staff members in planning in implementing the instructional program for students.
- Utilize multisensory techniques and strategies to accommodate the various learning styles and modes of students.
- Diagnose and assess students’ needs with regard to instructional goals and objectives
- Arrive promptly at assigned group times, prepared with appropriate lesson plans and materials.
- Effectively perform other duties and functions as assigned.
- Be positive, patient, and friendly with students, staff, parents, and community members in support of the District.
- Be professional, reliable, organized, and friendly.
- Communicate effectively (verbal and written).
- Answer telephone calls and e-mails promptly.
- Maintain positive interaction with students, staff, fellow employees, parents, and community members.
