Exceptional Children's Behavior Support Assistant
This position supports students with disabilities in achieving their educational goals and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and monitor individual and group behavior intervention plans under the guidance of the Behavior Specialist or School Counselor.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students who exhibit challenging behaviors, providing support to help them meet their behavioral and academic goals.
- Collect and analyze data on student behavior to track progress, identify patterns, and make recommendations for adjustments to behavior plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement effective behavior management strategies.
- Assist in managing and de-escalating crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
- Support and facilitate social-emotional learning activities, helping students develop coping skills, emotional regulation, and positive peer interactions.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff on effective behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student behavior, interventions, and progress reports.
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and school staff regarding behavioral progress and concerns.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or 48 college credit hours.
- Experience working with students with special needs and/or behavioral challenges.
- Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and positive behavior intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
