Role Description
The Finance and Insurance Consultant is responsible for providing expert advice to customers on various finance options and insurance products, ensuring they have the coverage(s) they need to protect their vehicle purchase or lease. While facilitating the purchase or lease of all new and used vehicles, it is the Finance and Insurance Consultant’s responsibility to produce additional revenue for the dealership through the selling of these finance and insurance programs. This position will work collaboratively alongside dealership staff and dealership customers to be successful in this position.
Required Qualifications
- University or professional degree and/or commensurate experience in a field of sales and finance
- Knowledge of and experience in dealership finance and insurance procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to learn to utilize applicable dealership computer systems and Sales Department processes
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must have a good driving record as defined by company insurance provider
- Must pass a background check
Skills
- Proficient in sales techniques and upselling strategies
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills
- Experience with financial software for insurance analysis
- Knowledge of loan officer processes and insurance requirements
- Familiarity with insurance contracts

Duties and Responsibilities
- Engage with clients to understand their insurance needs and recommend suitable products
- Present and sell financing, extended service agreements, environmental protection, GAP coverage, and additional coverage products to all customers
- Utilize financial software to analyze client data in order to recommend appropriate coverage
- Maintain working knowledge of finance and insurance products through both on and off-site training
- Forecast penetration income of finance and insurance products in conjunction with the Sales Department and its management
- Establish and meet monthly finance and insurance objectives
- Prepare monthly penetration reports of finance and insurance products and share with management
- Handle all official finance rate and lease quotations
- Encourage, coach, and instruct salespersons on how to present dealer financing to customers
- Work with sales management to secure a reasonable profit for every sale
- Obtain approval and submit paperwork to finance sources on all financed deals
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with several finance sources including working with lenders and their representatives to obtain approvals and finalize lender requirements for each approval
- Check all paperwork for correct information including but not limited to title, lien holder, insurance, taxes, fees, etc.
- Maintain daily operating control log
- Complete timely insurance cancellation paperwork and maintain insurance files
- Conduct business in a confidential and professional manner
- Communicate incentive information to salespersons
- Attend and participate in sales department meetings
- Deliver sold new vehicles to General Motors and apply for all incentives
- Research and resolve any unpaid incentive and or customer balances and or inquiries
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly
- Complete lease terminations, including condition reports, odometer statements, purchases for inventory, and stocking of lease returns for inventory
- Other tasks and responsibilities as needed
