Curry College has a deep commitment to supporting students' academic, personal, and professional development. It is the home of the Program for the Advancement of Learning, a first-of-its-kind program to support academically bright students with learning disabilities. Recently, Curry College has expanded offerings for students with learning and attention differences by launching a new Neurodiversity Center for Excellence and a tailored program, SAIL Social Achievement in Learning, that provides social coaching, transitional assistance, and sensory-friendly housing for students with diagnoses of ASD, non-verbal learning disorder, or social-pragmatic language disorder.

The Mathematics Faculty are members of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. An NSF-supported project with PI and co-PI members of the mathematics faculty is actively investigating curriculum and pedagogy for teaching introductory statistics and involves most members of the mathematics faculty. The mathematics faculty works closely with faculty members across the College to ensure that the quantitative service courses match the needs of the various disciplines - business and data analytics, education, the social sciences, and the natural sciences.

Curry College offers a generous benefits package including professional development funding. Faculty members teach two 16-week traditional semesters a year, one with four 3-credit courses and the other with three. Class sizes for mathematics classes are capped at 25 (and 16 for preparatory classes).

The Department of Natural Sciences & Mathematics at Curry College invites applications for a Special Appointment (1-year sabbatical replacement) full-time faculty member in Mathematics at the Assistant Professor level to begin late August 2025. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise, experience, and / or interest in teaching introductory Statistics courses and supporting other introductory and / or preparatory courses (e.g., College Algebra, Problem Solving Strategies, Mathematics for Educators). While research experience is a bonus, emphasis is placed on excellence in teaching and scholarship of teaching and learning. Evidence of effective teaching to diverse undergraduate learners using innovative course delivery methods, student-centered techniques, and exceptional intervention support is essential. An ideal candidate will contribute to the mission of educating students to engage in successful careers and active citizenship and will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching practices that support diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities include teaching primarily introductory statistics and preparatory, algebraic-literacy courses. The right candidate will also have the option of teaching one upper-level elective, dependent on demand, in the Spring semester. Upper-level electives include History of Mathematical Inquiry, Mathematical Modeling, Modern Algebra, etc. Mathematics faculty also hold scheduled hours in the Math Center to provide direct service to students in the form of tutoring and student support, during evening hours on Wednesdays or Thursdays and / or Friday afternoons. Demonstrated experience with and excitement for supporting students to develop foundational skills in mathematics is a must.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Earned Doctorate (by August 2025) in Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science preferred, though qualified candidates with an earned doctorate in a closely related field (e.g., Mathematics Education) and / or ABD will be considered.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in introductory college-level Statistics courses.
