Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; research skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; PC skills; visual and auditory skills; ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, and lift items weighing 50 lbs. or less.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in related positions or rail repair is normally required.
General Responsibilities
a) Inspector is responsible for visual inspection of the railcar as well as all AAR / FRA and customer requirements.
b) Must have reliable transportation
c) Must be able to work in confined spaces
d) Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
Essential Duties
1) Perform visual inspection of railcar.
a. Ensure railcar is within the AAR / FRA requirements for interchange movement.
b. Ensure all customer requirements are met.
c. Ensure photos are taken for support of repairs
2) Generates an accurate estimate of the repairs required.
3) Completes all required inbound forms.
4) Communicates with other team members to solve problems and provide instruction to quickly resolve production issues.
5) Clear communication with customers and outside inspectors.
6) Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements.
7) Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested.
Work Environment
The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions at the facility. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The position regularly works near moving railcars and other mechanical equipment. In and outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and dirt.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
