JOB SUMMARY:
The Research and Evaluation Manager is responsible for researching, designing, and implementing programmatic evaluation strategies. This role requires an experienced, well-organized, and self-directed individual who can design evaluation strategies, impact and outcomes, Quality Improvement, and data collection activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work directly with Senior Management, Program Managers, and Board Committees.
- Design evaluation strategies for new and existing programs.
- Develop agency-wide evaluation strategies.
- Review existing measurement instruments and develop new internal measurement instruments.
- Lead in the design of new survey instruments.
- Guide program evaluation implementation with program managers.
- Train staff in interviewing and data collection techniques and procedures.
- Supervise and work directly with the data manager on all projects assigned.
- Perform simple statistical analyses in conjunction with the data analyst.
- Thematically analyze qualitative data.
- Interpret data for report writing.
- Report writing and potentially writing for publication.
- Provide consultations as requested by Senior Management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum: Masters level or preferably in social sciences and/or public health.
- Minimum: 5 years’ experience in research (mixed methods), program design, analysis, paper, and report writing.
- Strong communications skills including writing ability.
- Ability to convey technical information effectively.
- Well organized, attentive to detail, and timeliness to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Advanced skills in Excel and/or Access.
- Comfortable working in a community-based setting in the Tenderloin serving low-income, frail, and culturally diverse (including non-English speaking) older adults with mental health issues, substance abuse issues, and chronic health conditions.
- Proof of Covid Vaccines required: completed original series and first booster.
- Non-profit experience is highly desirable.

- Proof of negative or inactive TB required. Curry Senior Center will provide or reimburse for the cost of a TB test after an offer of employment has been accepted by both parties. Proof of a negative TB test within 90 days will also be accepted.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS:
The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which they are free to move about at will. The Environment is mostly clean and comfortable but may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. Work will be performed utilizing a computer, sitting at a desk/chair or standing while speaking and interacting with clients. Position will require average finger dexterity to operate normal office equipment and systems.
