Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to clients, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and motivation.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on recovery topics, offering guidance and encouragement.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills through motivational interviewing techniques.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to create individualized recovery plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Conduct crisis intervention and management when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and interactions in accordance with organizational policies.
- Engage in community outreach to promote awareness of available resources and support systems.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behavioral health.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent experience in the field of mental health or addiction counseling is required.
- Strong background in social work, mentoring, or crisis intervention is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health systems and resources available for clients.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
- Experience with motivational interviewing techniques is a plus.
