Schedule: Typical job schedule will be a 2:1 or 2:2 hitch or similar. May involve travel to several locations and extended stays outside of homeport. Typical 12-hour shift and occasional 24-hour on-call status essential job requirements.
Job Summary: The Dredging Yard Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and performing all duties required to provide yard and support barge management for construction and dredging project job sites in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES/GOALS:
- Assist Project Manager, Buyer, & Site Administrator with operational tasks
- Manage all shipping & receiving, taking record of all incoming deliveries, and insuring they are recorded, tagged, and delivered to their final destination
- Upkeep and general housekeeping of the yard & barge to the Curtin Standard
- Eliminate yard & barge safety hazards with assistance of the SSHO
- Maintain an inventory log of all heavy lifts and coordinate their delivery to vessels
- Maintain an inventory of all routine project consumables and their stock locations
- Organization of all stored equipment and items in the yard & barge
- Provide routine service and maintenance of all barge equipment such as crane, generators, HVAC units, telehandler, and forklift.
- Assist port engineers or any other capital or maintenance project teams operating from the yard as needed.
- Procure and/or deliver emergency parts as needed
- Assist in routine project reporting requirements
- Load and unload all trucks delivering or picking up equipment and supplies from the yard
- Manage all trash and its disposal from dredging vessels
- Manage all loading of stores to dredging vessels
- Manage all fueling of yard & barge equipment or vessels present in the yard
- Maintain yard & barge security standards
- May be assigned other duties as necessary to support the projects
SKILLS, APTITUDES, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years in yard operations and management or equivalent experience
- NCCCO – LBC license
- Basic rigging skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to prioritize duties and multi-task
- Equipment operation
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Telescopic & standard forklift competency certification
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record required
- Valid TWIC (or ability to get one).
- Experience working around boats and/or barges/dredges is a plus

Physical Aptitudes Required:
- Must meet “fit for duty” requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)
- The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
- Must be capable and comfortable entering tanks and other confined spaces in accordance with company procedures
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work when exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels, and potentially hazardous equipment.
