THIS ROLE:
The HVAC Technician will work directly with the Shipyard Manager to perform all duties from installation to troubleshooting and maintenance to all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The HVAC Technician will be responsible for installing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, calibrating, operating, maintaining, start-up and commissioning, repairing HVAC, and related software and hardware equipment. Based on the needs of Curtin Maritime, the HVAC Technician will be required to travel to vessels, shipyards, & offices for periods of time to complete vital tasks.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Track and perform all preventative maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Diagnose, assess problems, and perform repairs of HVAC systems.
- New system installation
- Follow the company’s policies and procedures in ordering parts and tools.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints
- Train junior support staff
- May perform other duties and participate on or lead projects as required by the Department and/or business
WHO YOU ARE:
Certifications and Other Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience
- EPA Certification
- Experience with project management, facilitation, and consulting
Mental Aptitudes
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including being able to prioritize workload based on business needs
- Ability to receive coaching from others
- Ability to complete tasks with little to no direct supervision
- Clear communications skills
Physical Aptitudes
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without restriction. Position involves lifting, pulling and operating heavy equipment and objects.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and climb high steps/ladders frequently.
- Ability to work on equipment that is poorly accessible or in confined workspaces.
- Proper heat/cold tolerance, working in all weather conditions
- Must be able to swim
