Maintenance Painter
Job Description Summary
- Works under general supervision of the Maintenance Manager in a GMP regulated environment operating under FDA quality standards
- Perform general industrial painting duties (determine appropriate preparation of surfaces, selection and application of paint and other coatings to equipment and facilities) for the purpose of protecting facilities, structures, and equipment.

- Painter will be required to perform all work assigned to them within the constraints of the CBA and in accordance with all customer DOPs and SOPs.
- Reads work orders and receives instructions to determine work requirements; calculates amounts of required materials to accomplish job most effectively and efficiently; requests supplies both orally and in writing.
- Prepares various surfaces for painting and other coatings (such as by washing, treating, scraping, burning, sanding, sandblasting) to ensure finishes will adhere properly; removes fixtures and hardware as necessary; caulks, putties, cement or plaster holes and cracks; applies primer and sealers to prepare new surfaces (bare wood or metal) for finish coats; covers surfaces with drop cloths or tape and paper to protect surrounding areas during paint application.
- Mixes, matches and blend chemicals, color of paint and other coating to obtain desired consistencies, drying properties and colors.
- Applies paint, epoxy, stain, varnish, enamel and other coatings/finishes to equipment and facilities using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other applicators.
- Cleans, maintains and stores tools and equipment; cleans work sites; disposes properly of paints, solvents and other hazardous materials used in work.
- Erects and uses ladders, scaffolding and swinging stage equipment as necessary to work above ground level. Follows all working from heights safety requirements.
- Assists in performing preventative maintenance on plant facilities and equipment.
- Follow safe work practices
- 5 or more years Industrial painting experience; may be offset with relevant industrial technical training.
- Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge:
- Mathematics (Basic Level) and English comprehension
- Preparation and use of paints, epoxies, resins and other coatings associated with industrial paintings (Thorough Level)
- Safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations policies and procedures (Basic Level)
- Skills:
- Painting techniques, supplies and equipment.
- Equipment selection, operation and maintenance
- Organized and self-motivated
- Abilities:
- Work skillfully with hands
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 55 pounds
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds; and stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch while painting
- Operates scissors and boom lifts safely
- Work in cold and hot environments
- Comprehend oral or written English instructions
- Follow established policies and procedures and work within precise limits
- Work independently within a team environment to assist others as needed
- Operate and maintain wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment
- Adapt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
- Pass pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities test
